Keep in mind — It’s often the case that airlines claim that extraordinary circumstances happened when they did not, in order to avoid paying passengers their owed compensation.
If your flight departed from the United Kingdom, you have 6 years to claim flight compensation and a refund, except for Scotland where you have 5 years to claim.
If your flight was departing from another European country, the situation might be different. For instance, if you took a Flydubai flight from Amsterdam, you will only be able to claim under Dutch law, which states that you have 2 years to submit a claim for flight compensation.
