Dramatic 30-hour-long delay

Last Saturday (January 3, 2015) an aircraft of UAE carrier Etihad was set to fly from Abu Dhabi to Düsseldorf. The plane landed with a 30 hour delay.

Due to fog, the aircraft remained on the runway for 13 hours. When the flight was finally able to take off, one of the passengers had deceased. The plane had to emergency land in Wien, Austria in order to transport the 73-year old man off the aircraft. The flight finally landed at Düsseldorf Airport on Sunday afternoon. The average flight duration between Abu Dhabi and Düsseldorf is ususally 7 hours.

In the mean time, Etihad has confirmed the death of the passenger.
