Netflix to be made available on Virgin America flights

This takes on-demand entertainment to the next level: Literally. Virgin America has announced a partnership with Netflix, whereby account holders will be able to stream their favourite movies and shows on Virgin flights at no cost. The airline has confirmed a new Wi-Fi system that allows for increased internet speed and a faster streaming experience.  Passengers will be able to stream via their own devices or through the in-built flight entertainment screens. All new customers will be able to start on a 30-day free Netflix trial.

This is a big step for the two companies. Virgin America VP of Brand Marketing and Communications Abby Lunardini exclaimed: “Netflix and Virgin America are both known for their focus on innovation and for shaking up their respective industries.  We’re thrilled to team up to bring the best in technology and entertainment to the skies. “

This new service is planned for mid-2016 and is so far limited to the United States. However, it is only a matter of time until this service may become available in other parts of the world.
