Flybe offers more domestically

Saturday, June 25, 2016

Flybe has outstripped rivals British Airways and easyJet in offering more seats for its domestic flights. This comes after the carrier announced improved financial results for the year ending march 31st 2016.
Although, easyJet managed a bigger load factor domestically, carrying more passengers than Flybe, Flybe still offered more seats than its two main rivals combined.
The airline has managed this without serving the UK’s busiest airport, Heathrow. The airline’s main airport is Birmingham, with their only presence in the capital being at London City airport and some routes to London Gatwick.
Over the past few years Flybe has added further routes to increase its network to almost 200 routes. However, the UK remains, by far and away, the airline's biggest market.
Out of the airlines top 20 airports, only 3 reside outside of the UK. Another main airport is Amsterdam Schiphol, which has benefited from increased journeys to/from Birmingham and Manchester as well as new routes from Dundee and Doncaster Sheffield.
Flybe has seen its capacity rise by more than 10 percent this summer. Despite their success in the domestic market, the carrier has hinted at which direction the growth of their network may take, with new international routes announced for later in the year.
Flybe will be linking to more cities in France and Milan Malpensa in August. In September the airline will see the introduction of routes to Luxembourg from Birmingham and Manchester. Rotterdam will also be connected with the UK’s second city.
