Although London Heathrow and Gatwick are busier airports, one should not forget London Stansted (STN). In 2017, a total of more than 24 million passengers travelled through Stansted. As the largest base for Ryanair, over 130 out of the 170 routes that fly out of Stansted are serviced by this carrier. With that much passenger traffic, a flight departing from this airport is bound to be delayed, cancelled or overbooked every once in a while.
Prior to the departure of your flight, it's always a good idea to check the airport's website to see if any disturbances of the flight schedule have been announced. Airlines often try to inform passengers in cases where a delay or cancellation becomes known prior to the scheduled departure.
However, most delays occur at the last moment or sometimes a few hours before departure, so not all passengers will be able to be notified. If you live close to the airport, it may be worth checking current flight data a few times before you leave for the airport to save yourself the aggravation of waiting at the airport along with hundreds of other stranded passengers.
If you do notice that your flight has been delayed prior to leaving for the airport, make sure to contact the airline, as it may be required for passengers to have checked in at the airline's check in desk, even if the flight doesn't depart as scheduled.
Your passenger rights are protected by Regulation CE No 261/2004. According to said law, an airline has to pay its passengers compensation if their flight has been delayed for more than three hours, sporadically cancelled or unrightfully overbooked. Depending on the exact circumstances, the compensation can range from £220.00 up to £528.00 per passenger.
However, airlines tend to make claiming as difficult as it can be. Carriers will try to avoid paying the compensation. Here are a few little tips to keep in mind when filing a claim.

Always ask the airline’s staff for the reason of your disruption. Specially in the scenario of a denied boarding incident. Sometimes, the airport’s staff may also know the reason for the delay, cancellation or overbooking. If possible, always ask the airline for a statement of delay or cancellation.

London Stansted airport (IATA Code: STN) offers free Wi-Fi for 4 hours to all who roam their halls. Additional plans can also be purchased, e.g. 24 hours for £ 9, 6 months for £ 70 or 12 months for £ 130 for those frequent travellers who need that extra digital access. Another facility that Stansted offers is the Escape Lounge. You can pre-book this service for £ 21 per person and enjoy a variety of food, drinks and magazines in the comfortable lounge. Transportation from the airport
Stansted can be reached by car, taxi, rail and coach/bus. In a mere 30 minutes you can make your way to central London. Alternatively if you have to transfer in London and make your way to a different airport, there are trains that depart every 15 minutes in the direction of Heathrow and Gatwick. Analyse which option best suits you so you can make sure to get to the airport on time and start your travels.
Need an overnight stay?
Did the airline randomly cancel your flight and are you now forced to spend the night at Stansted? Why not make the experience a bit more comfortable by staying at a hotel. As aforementioned, remember to retain the receipt for your accommodation so that we can add this to your claim. And there's no need to worry about straying away too far, there are plenty of options located at the airport. Choose from Radisson Blu, Holiday Inn Express, Novotel or Ramada for example and ensure that you are on time for your flight the next day.

Very good Service for claming Money from Airline companies if you had a Problem like more than 3hrs delay, cancellations without reason. For my case, Airline rejected my Claim via customer Service but after i used this site it took only 4 weeks from Claim to confirmation for compensation. it's very easy to fill out the form to Claim and they answer/help right away. you should try with this even though Airline already refused to pay you with several reason.
It's taken 12 months to extract compensation from Ryanair, purely down to the pathetic customer service on the part of the Irish Airline. Very good service to use for claiming money from the airline companies due to a long delays or cancellations for no reason or no explanation! I had no idea it is even possible, but I filled their forms and did not need to pay a thing for it. They claimed 800 euros for 2 passengers and all they took was their commission fee from the claimed price for their work which is the way it should be. They managed to get the money within a month or so.

Ryanair left us delayed at Knock Airport for over 4 hours. Not just inconvenient but annoyingly cost us an extra £23 airport parking which we could not reclaim.
