Are you flying with Turkish Airlines from the UK or Europe? Turkish Airlines is a non-EU airline — therefore, your rights to flight compensation are not always covered by the British and EU legislation.
You need to be travelling from the UK/EU to be eligible for Turkish Airlines flight compensation.
More generally, if you are flying from the UK or the EU, it doesn’t matter which airline you are flying with. The EU and British flight compensation regulations apply to all EU and UK flights, even with non-EU airlines.
Unfortunately, when flying to the UK/EU with a non-EU airline, your passengers' rights are not covered by the British and European flight compensation regulations. See the table below for more details about when you can get flight compensation as a UK/EU air passenger.
Under the British and European flight compensation regulations, if a Turkish Airlines flight from the UK/EU is delayed by more than 3 hours, you are entitled to flight compensation. The airline must be the party at fault for the delay.
Use our free and no-obligation Claim Calculator to see if you are entitled to compensation — you'll know if you're eligible for Turkish Airlines delayed flight compensation in less than a minute. Turkish Airlines flight delayed by 3 hours or more?
Claim compensation of up to £520!
You might be eligible for compensation of up to £520, a ticket refund, or both, depending on your Turkish Airlines cancellation circumstances.
To be able to claim compensation for your cancelled Turkish Airlines flight, you must be departing from the UK/EU.
If this is the case, and in the event of a cancelled Turkish Airlines flight, you might be entitled to compensation if your flight was cancelled fewer than 14 days before the scheduled departure date and you did not take another flight.
Turkish Airlines must be at fault for the cancellation for you to be eligible for compensation. See the "Extraordinary Circumstances" section of this article for more information.
If your Turkish Airlines flight from the UK/EU got cancelled, you can get a refund if:
The airline did not offer you an alternative flight
The airline did offer you an alternative flight, but you decided not to take it

With us, you can claim compensation in just a few minutes!
You might get Turkish Airlines compensation if your delayed or cancelled flight was from the UK/EU. The amount of compensation is determined by the distance of your flight:
For flights shorter than 1,500 km, the compensation is £220.
For flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km, the compensation is £350.
For flights of over 1,500 kilometres within the EU, the compensation is also £350.
For flights of over 3,500 kilometres outside of the EU, the compensation is £520 —but if your flight was delayed by fewer than 4 hours, the total amount might be reduced by 50%.
When the delay or cancellation was caused by a third party or force majeure, Turkish Airlines has the authority to decline compensation. Such situations are referred to as extraordinary circumstances.
Some of the most common extraordinary circumstances are:
Bad weather conditions, such as thick fog, heavy rain, or thunderstorms.
A strike, most often specifically within the aviation industry (for example, a strike of air traffic control workers at a specific airport).
However, a strike of the airline's crew is not considered an extraordinary circumstance!
Political circumstances, such as a terrorist attack or general security risk due to political unrest.
Natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions and hurricanes.
A collision between the aircraft and birds or other foreign objects.
An ill or unruly passenger.
Flight delays caused by the airport staff, such as extraordinarily long queues to security checks.
However, keep in mind that if your Turkish Airlines flight was not departing from the UK or the EU, you won’t be entitled to flight compensation under the British and European regulations. Also, airlines sometimes claim that an extraordinary circumstance happened, even if that was not the case. They do it to avoid paying out compensation.
