British Airways strike ballot could cause Christmas flight delays

British Airways strike ballot could cause Christmas flight delays
UPDATED:

Flights from London Heathrow could be disrupted this Christmas due to possible industrial action by British Airways cabin crew.

Cabin crew have been balloted for strike action over a pay dispute and if action is taken, it could severely disrupt travel plans for a big number of Christmas travellers.

If the action does proceed, passengers may be entitled to flight delay compensation. This entitlement is due to the fact that the airline should take appropriate action to either prevent these situations or resolve them without causing flight delays.

This is not the first incident of British Airways cabin crew being balloted for strike action this year.

Unite the Union, representing the cabin crew, said that passengers would not be disrupted during the balloting process but could not rule out disruptions if staff voted for strike action.

If your flight is delayed by three or more hours or cancelled altogether due to industrial action taken by airline staff, you are entitled to flight delay compensation.

The mixed cabin crew have been balloted and have voted for strike action. If the action goes ahead as planned then up to 2,500 mixed fleet staff could walk out on an unspecified date after 21/12/16.
