About Eastern Airways
Eastern Airways is a regional British airline flying primarily within the mainline UK. The airline also offers regular flights to Dublin and seasonal flights to Gibraltar. Additional European destinations are also planned, including flights to Nantes and Rennes in France.
Eastern Airways started its operation back in 1997 and is currently headquartered at the Humberside Airport near Kirmington, North Lincolnshire. Between 2017 and 2020, Eastern Airways was operating under a franchise for Flybe. During those years, all Eastern Airways flights carried the Flybe flight numbers (BE). After Flybe entered administration in early 2020, Eastern Airways again started flying independently, adding 3 more routes previously handled by Flybe.
My Eastern Airways flight was delayed/cancelled. What are my air passenger rights?
When the UK was part of the European Union, the air passenger rights of British passengers were guaranteed by the European Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004, called also the Flight Compensation Regulation. After Brexit, this regulation was adapted into British law as 'The Air Passenger Rights and Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019’.
Under this new regulation, air passengers who experienced a cancelled or delayed Eastern Airways flight are entitled to compensation in selected cases of delayed and cancelled flights.

I had a delayed Eastern Airways flight. Am I eligible for compensation?
Yes, but only if your flight was delayed by at least 3 hours.
As shown in the infographic below, British and European law split delayed flights eligible for compensation into three categories, depending on the distance between the departure and arrival airports. However, as the vast majority of Eastern Airways flights happen within the mainland UK, in case of a delayed Eastern Airways flight, you will most likely be eligible for £220 in delayed flight compensation.

Cancelled Eastern Airways flight? You might be eligible for both compensation and a refund!
Depending on the exact circumstances, if you had a cancelled Eastern Airways flight, you might be entitled to compensation, a refund, or both!
What is the difference between a flight refund and flight compensation?
You must be refunded the original price of your ticket if your Eastern Airways flight has been cancelled and you have not been offered an alternative flight — or if the alternative flight proposed to you doesn’t fit your schedule.
Remember not to accept vouchers, the airline owes you an actual money refund!
Flight compensation, on the other hand, is awarded if the flight cancellation (or flight delay) has significantly impacted your travel plans. See the table below to see the exact circumstances in which you are entitled to cancelled flight compensation.

How long do I have to submit my flight compensation and/or flight refund claim?
As all Eastern Airways flights depart from or arrive to an airport in the United Kingdom, they are covered by the very generous British law — passengers have up to 6 years to claim their flight compensation or refund.
Can Eastern Airways deny me my claim?
Yes, they can. However, even if they do so, one question remains: did they deny your flight compensation claim rightfully?
Some airlines deny a large number of flight compensation claims simply because they believe passengers won’t take them to court. This happens especially often to passengers who don’t have the support and representation of a legal professional.
However, there are also situations that we call extraordinary circumstances. These are:
- Bad weather, such as thick fog, heavy rain, or thunderstorms.
- A strike, most often specifically within the aviation industry. However, a strike of a specific airline/their crew is not considered an extraordinary circumstance!
- Political circumstances, such as a terrorist attack or general security risk due to political unrest.
- Natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions and hurricanes.
- A collision between the aircraft and birds or other foreign objects.
- An unruly or ill passenger.
- Delays caused by the airport staff, such as extraordinarily long queues to security checks.
If any of the above happens to your flight, the airline can rightfully deny you the flight compensation claim. Please note that, however, it’s always worth checking whether the extraordinary circumstances indeed happened. We can do so for you, for free — simply use our Claim Calculator and let us know more about your flight.
Our professional team will review your claim and determine whether you are eligible for compensation. We operate on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis — so if your claim cannot be processed, you will not have to pay us anything.
How long does it take to get my compensation from Eastern Airways?
It highly depends on your unique case.
There are claims that we can settle between us and the airline and get you your money within weeks.
However, there are also cases that take months or even years to finalise due to the airline’s unresponsiveness or lengthy court proceedings. Rest assured, however, that we will always keep you informed on the developments in your claim and fight for your rights until the very end.
