Air New Zealand named world's best airline

For the third year in a row, New Zealand's flagship airline has been crowned world’s best by AirlineRatings.com. Deciding factors included safety and in-flight experience. The Auckland-based carrier came first before major competitors such as Qantas and Etihad, who ranked second and third respectively. Hong Kong based Cathay ranked fourth, followed by Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Taiwan based EVA Air and Virgin Atlantic. The bottom two spots were occupied by All Nippon Airways (Japan) and German Lufthansa. British Airways dropped out of the top 10 after having ranked 10th the past year.

In a statement, Air New Zealand CEO Christopher Luxon declared: “ None of this would be possible without the contribution of our 10,500 employees globally who turn up every day with the most fantastic attitude and the passion for making Air New Zealand a truly great company”
