Luton airport to undergo a £100 million overhaul

Construction has officially started at Luton airport, in light of a £100 million redevelopment program aimed at giving the airport a whole new look. This is particularly good news for low-cost carrier easyJet.

As the airline’s third largest base, over 400,000 easyJet passengers flew in and out of Luton in the past year. The planned renewal promises to increase the airport’s capacity by at least 50 percent, offering more terminals as well as a greater range of amenities for passengers, thus enhancing their overall flying experience. This in turn, is in line with easyJet’s strategy of long-term growth.

Airline director Sophie Dekkers stated: “We are really pleased to be supporting the airport through the project – the results of which will ultimately provide much needed improvements to the airport and enable passenger numbers to increase”

The development is said to bring over 70,000 more  flights a year.
