At 26 years old, a British woman has become the youngest ever commercial airline Captain.

Kate McWilliams flies the Airbus 319 and 20 to over 100 destinations. She began flying at the tender age of 13 and started her training programme on her 19th birthday.

In May 2011 she became a first officer at easyJet before passing the airline’s command course to become a Captain.

An easyJet spokesperson said that they believe Kate to be the youngest in the world to captain a passenger jet.

On a recent flight from Gatwick to Malta, Kate was accompanied by easyJet pilot Luke Elsworth, who at just 19 is the airlines youngest pilot.

In an interview with ITV, Kate said that she is often questioned about her age but overall the reaction has been positive.

The next time you take wing on an easyJet flight it might just be under the care of one of the youngest flight crews in the world.
