If your flight was cancelled due to an industrial action like an airport strike or severe weather, you will not be eligible to receive compensation for your cancelled Turkey flight. Airport strikes or severe weather are “extraordinary circumstances”.
Can I claim a refund for a cancelled flight from/to Turkey?
If your Turkey flight is cancelled, you can also get a complete refund. This is not the same thing as compensation. When a flight is cancelled and the airline is at fault and has to pay compensation, it will provide customers with compensation for their Turkey flights. However, as long as passengers ultimately decide against flying with the same airline, they are qualified for a refund.

Can I claim compensation for a flight departing from Turkey?
Yes, you can also receive flight compensation for a flight departing from Turkey. However, since Turkey is not a member of the European Union, Turkish laws will apply instead of European ones.
According to Turkish regulations, passengers can be assessed for compensation if they were denied boarding due to overbooking, flight was cancelled and passengers weren’t notified at least 2 weeks before the departure, or flight was delayed by at least 2 hours (in case of a flight within Turkey) or 3 hours (in case of an international flight).
Flight disturbance caused by extraordinary circumstances will not be compensated.
