Iberia scores as world’s most punctual airline

The Spanish carrier Iberia has been selected as the world’s most punctual airline for the first half of 2017 by FlightStats.

According to the aviation tracking website, out of the last six months, they placed first five times. Be advised that the website defines on-time as landing within 14 minutes of the scheduled time of arrival.

In June this year, 91.02% of Iberia-flights landed on time, defeating Japanese airlines JAL and ANA. The top ten is rounded off by Etihad Airways, SriLankan Airlines, Qantas, South African Airways, Singapore Airlines, Emirates and LATAM Brasil.

Popular British airlines like Ryanair or Easyjet are noticeably missing from the top 40 list. Although Thomson and British Airways have placed on the list, these are positioned significantly higher.

The praise is nothing new for Iberia, as they have been rather good at punctuality for a number of years. In 2016, they were voted the most punctual airline of the year overall.
